TK Concert

The Toby Keith Concert was awesome. He is quite the entertainer. These pictures did not turn out as great as I had hoped, but anyway- they will be ok to scrap the moment.

We are headed out to the Washington County Fair today. It will give the kids a chance to ride some rides, eat cotton candy and see the farm animals.

Toby Keith Concert

Tony and I are going to the Toby Keith concert tonight. It is going to be our first date night in a while. Tony is very much looking forward to the concert- as he loves Toby's music.

This is my favorite song and video right now. I have seen Tim and Faith sing this live twice. It is just one of those songs that moves me.

The Concert and Being Done

Tim and Faith rocked the house last night at the concert.  It was awesome and I am really glad that we went.

The last day of school went well. I got lots of nice gifts. The kids were really good and they loved all the fun things that they got to take home. Today I went back and cleaned up the classroom. I am so glad to have all of that behind me and now we can settle into a summer vacation routine.

Concert

Yes Tony and I are going to the SOUL2SOUL 2007 Concert. I am so excited!  We went to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill when they came in August of 2006. It was an awesome concert and we had great seats- right by where they entered and excited the stage. This time we went a little higher so we can see the graphics that come across the stage. Our seats the last time were on the floor so we could not see the floor on the stage. I am looking forward to another great night out with Tony and also a couple of hours of great music.

Primetime and Misc

Tonight on Primetime they are doing a special on children in Foster Care.  I watched previews of it and Diane Sawyer was on the view talking about it.  It makes me so mad and sad that there are so many children in foster care that could be adopted- if DHS was held responsible for what they do.   The DHS system spends so little time actually working on cases and so much time in meetings and trainings trying to find solutions to their problems, but they never execute the stuff they learn.   They give parents so many chances to get their kids back and yet the parents don't do anything to better themselves.  I just wonder how many chances do they need before DHS realizes they aren't going to do anything.  Tony and I are in this situaton right now with Chloee.  We have had her a year this month and we are no closer in finalization than we were the day we brought her home. 

Her birthfather showed up in Febuary to the office and said he wanted to get her back.  DHS spent time sending paperwork to him and it was returned several times then they had to meet with the DA to see if they had done enough to help him before we can adopt her.  Here is a prime example of DHS spending time on something that could be taken care soon.  He has never seen her, has no relationship with her- we have had her since she was 5 months old and they can't seem to get things together so we can legally adopt her.    If they had not placed her with us on Wednesday June 8th of last year by the following Monday (5 Days Later) she could have been in 4 different foster homes.  How sad is that?  I am hoping that this Primetime Special will open some doors and show the government what is going on in DHS's around the country.  I hope people check it out and maybe it will inspire some people to look into adoption or foster care.

Well enough of my soapbox on DHS-

It is raining here and so I can't go for a walk- I will pull out my walking program DVD and settle for that.  It doesn't push me as hard, but at least it is some form of excercise.

I am off to get my haircut this afternoon.  Hopefully it will give me the lift I am looking for today- this rain is so depressing.

My Theme Song

I got this idea from Tina- while reading her weblog.  I read this earlier in the day and I have been thinking about it ever since.  What is my theme song? What song plays in my mind and makes me feel happy. 

I was putting laundry in the washer - I do not like doing laundry- I love when it is done and put away, but doing it just is not fun for me.  Anyway - while I was doing this- the song Drift Away by Uncle Kracker came to me.  I love this song and it always makes me happy.  It always makes a bad day just a little bit better even if it is only for a fleeting moment.
